Oberaargau is a region of villages and hills. The Oberaargau is part of the canton of Bern and the Swiss Plateau. Oberaargau has a strong position in the construction and textile industry compared to the Berne and Swiss average. Many small and micro enterprises dominate the landscape. The average farm size is of 8.5 employees. Since the construction of the motorway A1, a new economic focus was on the foot of the Jura in Niederbipp and neighboring communities.
