BioValley Basel
Basel is a major centre for pharmaceuticals, chemical, and modern biotechnology industries. Over 900 life sciences companies are present in Basel’s BioValley region, which constitutes about 40% of the world’s life sciences industry.
Roughly 10% of the million people living in the BioValley Basel region are employed in life sciences as researchers, technicians, lawyers, managers, bus drivers, plant workers, university professors, or students. Employment in the life science industry in BioValley Basel grows by an additional 1,000 to 2,000 new jobs each year.
BioValley Basel aims at:
- PROMOTING the North-western part of Switzerland - particularly the Basel area - as prime location for Life Science companies: as best location to settle down and extend their network
- ENCOURAGING and SUPPORTING Life Science entrepreneurs who wish to set up their businesses in the Basel area
- SPONSORING communication and networking among representatives from science, economy, politics and the general public regarding Life Sciences
- FOSTERING contact among BioValley members from all countries and enhancing mutual support among them
