The concept of the Technology Park weinberg campus provides a future for enterprises, university departments and external research institutes.
- The concentration on selected focus areas of research and their systematic promotion make the innovative network in weinberg campus even denser and thus, in the long term, help to live up to the increasing specialisation trend in the high-tech industry.
- Three Technology and Start-up Centres and the highly specialised Bio-Centre unite various research areas, ranging from biotechnology, environmental research through to materials development, under one roof. This close proximity provides great opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation.
- The Fraunhofer Institute for Mechanics of Materials in Halle, the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, the Institute of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the Solar Energy Systems of Freiburg Center for a silicon photovoltaic (CSP) want to operate in the future. The research facility will be developing unique novel methods for the effective industrial processing of silicon materials.
