Heidelberg Technology Park
The Heidelberg Technology Park is a science park, which works in cooperation with major research institutions and international companies. In our knowledge society, science in the experimental field finds its way into economy and research with international cooperation wins very new perspectives.
From the beginning, designed as Biopark it is part of the university campus at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. With 50,000 square feet and more than 80 local companies and research institutions, and approximately 1,300 employees, it is among the most important biotechnology sites in Germany. About 200 associate members are strengthening the technology park and the development of the biotechnology cluster in the metropolitan region Rhein-Neckar.
The Heidelberg Technology Park has grown into an important driver of scientific and economic approaches and has expanded in a mix of biotech, medical technology, information and communications technology, environmental economics and environmental technology since its founding in 1984. The University of Heidelberg and renowned research institutions such as the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), the Center for Molecular Biology (ZMBH), the Bio-Chemical Centre, the University of Heidelberg (BZH) and the Max Planck Institute for Medical Research together work as a very fertile concentration of life sciences.
The Heidelberg Technology Park is divided in three different locations situated in the city of Heidelberg. The business locations also share a close thematic relationship creating a synergy between the companies and scientific institutions:
- Technologiepark Heidelberg BioPark, located in Im Neuenheimer Feld
- Technologiepark Heidelberg BioPark, located in Czernyring
- Technologiepark Heidelberg UmweltPark, located in Wieblinger Weg
