Sakhalin Energy
Today in Sakhalin Region takes place the largest project in Russia on production of the liquefied natural gas with the general productivity of 9,6 million tons per year. As a perspective direction the administration of the region develops cooperation with Japanese companies "Mitsui" and "Mitsubishi" on creation of export - focused petrochemical enterprises, and also works on questions of a regional gasification.
The development of oil-and-gas projects "Sakhalin 1 and 2" has considerably affected rates of investments attraction into Sakhalin Region, promoted development of many branches of economy. Today under these projects an infrastructure construction is carried out, industrial objects are commissioned.
In farther prospect the investment potential of Sakhalin Region will be formed due to realization of other projects of fuel and energy complex, transport branch, and also kinds of traditional activity for the region.
Other investment prospects in a fuel and energy complex of the region are connected to realization of projects in the coal industry. Currently, it is one of the industries, which production is on great demand in the markets of the countries of Asian - Pacific region.
The administration of Sakhalin Region also inttends to bring forward the following projects related to transport and infrastructure:
- The creation of transport-power bridge transitions between a continental part of Russia (Khabarovsk Region) and Sakhalin, and between Sakhalin and Hokkaido (Japan).
- The creation of transcontinental corridors in Russia to solve the problem of transport isolability of the region.
- The improvement of the existing ferry connections.
- The modernization of the international airport Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
- The construction of fish breeding hatcheries and mariculture farms, production of lined timber, etc.
