Nano Science Technology Center

The NanoScience Technology Center was created in 2005 and has pursued a mandate to create a multidisciplinary center of excellence to solve problems of regional, state, and national significance. The Center seeks to position UCF as an international leader in nanoscience technology by acquiring new knowledge, educating students, creating new breakthroughs in this rapidly evolving field, and in the process establish and nurture industry and research organization partnerships to facility rapid technology transfer.

In this context, the NanoScience & Materials Industrial Affiliates program is designed to create strong bonds and partnerships between industry and two of the University of Central Florida's major research centers: The NanoScience Technology Center (NSTC) and the Advanced Materials Processing and Analysis Center (AMPAC).

The common goal and purpose of both centers is to strongly promote interdisciplinary research. Research opportunities in areas as diverse as Green Energy, In Vitro Test Systems, Functional Nanomaterials, Computer/Mathematical Simulations, Assistive Robotics, Quantum Dynamics, Bioimaging, NanoElectronics & NanoPhysics, Integrated Device Development and Advanced Materials have been explored. Our work intersects with research areas including biology, medicine, energy, microelectronics, and nanotechnology. Our expectations are to further these applications, initiate advances in biomaterials and continue collaborative work in energy, optics and other fields.

To aid in achieving these ambitious goals, NSTC and AMPAC created the NanoScience & Materials Industrial Affiliates Program to strengthen the bonds with ongoing and emerging applications within industry, and to become a major force in Florida's and the world's industrial community. Industrial corporations and businesses that are involved in the development or use of materials and/or nanoscale technologies, or foresee their company's involvement in future applications and processes using these technologies, are encouraged to join our Affiliates program.
